Mazus is an attractive, low growing and spreading, perennial groundcover plant perfect for use between stepping stones in pathways or for a carpet-like groundcover where the soil stays consistently moist to wet. The plant grows to only 2 inches tall and spreads by creeping stems which root at the nodes as they go. The narrow bright green leaves form an attractive, dense carpet only 2-inches tall that becomes nearly covered in late spring to early summer with some of the cutest flowers you’ve ever seen. The tubular, purplish-blue 2-lipped flowers have white markings with rows of orange spots. The foliage is evergreen in USDA Zones 7 and 8 and deciduous further north. Very nice around garden ponds!
Landscape & Garden Uses

Perfect for use between widely-spaced stepping stones. It tolerates wet soils so we even have it growing in pots situated in the margins of our garden pond.
