Description
Adored for its unique, silvery heart-shaped leaves with blue green veins and 10-inch diameter clusters of, flat-topped, lace cap creamy white flowers which bloom for 6 to 8 weeks in summer, the Moonlight Climbing Hydrangea is ideal for lighting up shady walls, tree trunks, fencers and other walls where its clinging vines will climb up to 30 feet or more in height with no support. No attachments are necessary for this vine to climb as it naturally clings to bark, wood, brick and other surfaces using its own aerial roots, which won’t harm your walls or trees.
Landscape & Garden Uses
A clinging vine that will climb to 30 feet or more in height with no attachments required, the Moonlight Climbing Hydrangea provides wonderful texture and color as a vertical accent on home foundation or other walls, trellises, arbors, pergolas, and tree trunks. A fine addition to Hydrangea gardens, white gardens, Asian theme gardens and cottage gardens.
Suggested Spacing: 6 feet apart to cover walls or fences. One plant is usually sufficient to cover even a large tree trunk.
Growing Preferences
The Moonlight Climbing Hydrangea is easy to grow. The delicate aerial rootlets by which it clings won’t harm your walls or your trees. It is one of a few ornamental vines that will flower even in shade but will handle morning and evening sun with no problems. Grows well in moist but well-drained soils of average fertility.
