Description
The upright and sturdy self pollinating Navaho Thornless Blackberry bush never needs support to hold up the large crop of medium size tasty sweet berries it produces each year. Its low maintenance makes it great choice for the home orchard and no thorns means no blood drawn! Berries ripen in mid-summer farther south and late summer in the northern regions producing berries for at least a month.
NOTE: All of our fruit plants are grown in containers outdoors so they are fully rooted and landscape-ready upon arrival.
Growing Preferences
Navaho Blackberry will produce the best and most berries when growing in full sun. However, where space is limited, a blackberry plant will produce good crops even when grown in shade, which is something no other common fruit plants will do. Blackberries will grow reasonably well in most soil types except for very compacted clay or light chalky soil. In these soils it’ll be worth your time to mix in lots of organic compost to condition the soil and add beneficial nutrients and bacteria plants need to grow healthy. Blackberries grow and produce the best fruit in well-drained but moist fertile soil that is rich in organic matter. They like the soil to hold a good supply of water, especially when the fruits are developing in summer, but not so much water that the soil stays constantly soggy or wet.

Our entire garden here in Tx was killed by the freakish weather with negative temperatures back in February. I took the opportunity to begin replanting with plants I loved in childhood. I spent many summer hours as a child picking wild blackberries and bringing what I didn’t eat to my mother as it was her favorite berry (and mine). I found the Navaho thornless blackberry thru Wilson Bros. and thought I would try it. It arrived carefully packed but had no leaves so I was worried it might be dead. I planted it and within a week we had leaves, and a week later I saw the first flower. I can’t wait for it to get bigger and start producing the berries. You will not go wrong with Wilson Bros. Gardens. I highly recommend them.——————————————————-We are so glad you are pleased and we hope you enjoy it for years to come! Thanks for the kind words and great review! 🙂 Beth Steele | WBG

I was surprised when I unpacked this plant to see how big and healthy it was. It even had berries on it! Other places have sent me tiny bare rooted plants and not all survive. Will definitely order again from this place.———————————We are so glad you are pleased and we hope you enjoy it for years to come! Thanks for the great review! 🙂 Beth Steele | WBG
My blackberry plant came quickly and it exceeded my expectations. I thought the price was a bit high but when I opened the box I was convinced it was worth it. It even had a couple of berries on it!

I have other thornless Blackberries, but the Navaho is much quicker growing than the varieties I already had. Puts on lots of blooms. Looking forward to lots of fat, sweet, juicy blueberries.—————————————We are so glad you are pleased! Beth | WBG
So far so good with this. It arrived in perfect condition in a 1 gallon pot with three healthy stems. Within one week of being in the ground it’s sprouted two new branches and is blooming (which I pinched so it could concentrate on growth).
