Description
Just when we begin thinking Hydrangea breeders can’t possibly create something new and truly different, along comes ‘Princess Diana’, a truly unique and stunning cross hybrid of Hydrangea macrophylla and Hydrangea paniculata. Blooming abundantly and repeatedly throughout summer and into fall, she displays large 6 to 8 inch diameter rounded clusters of star-shaped double flowers held on strong stems just above the compact mound of green foliage. The flower color is up to you. An alkaline soil makes pink to salmon pink shades. A neutral soil makes dark pink to purple shades, and an acid soil makes blue. Simply apply pelletized lime to turn blue to pink or Aluminum Sulfate to turn pink to blue. At 3 to 4 feet tall and wide, Princess Diana is an exquisite specimen for partially shaded smaller garden spaces and flowering shrub borders or in groupings or as a natural hedge where space allows. Also excellent in containers that can be situated on patios, decks, porches and balconies where the gorgeous flowers can be viewed from close up.

Landscape & Garden Uses
Growing to about 3 to 4 feet tall and equally as wide, the Princess Diana Hydrangea is ideal for use as a specimen accent in partially shaded small garden spaces, flowering shrub borders and home foundation plantings. Can be used in groupings or as a colorful hedge in larger landscape and woodland borders. A fine addition to hydrangea gardens, pink or blue theme gardens and cottage gardens.
Suggested Spacing: 3 feet apart for solid hedges or borders; 7 feet or more apart for space between plants
Growing Preferences
The Princess Diana Hydrangea is very easy to grow in most any average, moist but well-drained soil and sun or part shade. The plants will tolerate full sun in northern zones with cool-summer climates however appreciate some shade or filtered sun during the afternoon in warmer southern zones. We suggest at least 5 hours of direct sunlight per day or all day lightly filtered sun for best flowering. You choose the flower color. An alkaline soil produces pink to salmon-pink shades while an acid to neutral soil produces blue flowers. Learn more about soil pH and how to adjust it. Learn more about soil pH and how to adjust it
