Description
A truly eye-catching, rare specimen in the landscape, Rosalinda is the most vigorous and robust Indian Hawthorne available and the one’s we offer are trained as an attractive, single trunk tree that is sure to draw attention. Rosalinda produces an abundance of large, showy clusters of fragrant, bright pink flowers in spring. The new foliage of Rosalinda is bright and bronze. Adult leaves are deep green and much larger in size than smaller varieties, providing a tropical look in the landscape. The canopy quickly grows (within a few years) into a rounded umbrella form to 10 feet tall and wide with no pruning necessary.
Landscape & Garden Uses
Growing to 10 feet tall and wide, the Rosalinda Indian Hawthorne Tree is an ideal selection for use as a specimen, in small groupings, or in staggered or straight rows in landscape borders and home foundation plantings. Looks especially nice around garden ponds, swimming pools and other water features. Also suitable for use in large pots, planters and other containers of 18 inches or more in diameter. A fine addition to tropical-look gardens and Xeriscape gardens (low water needs).
Suggested Spacing: 12 feet or more for space between plants in groupings.
Note: For our customers who live and garden north of USDA Plant Hardiness Zone 7a, where this Indian Hawthorne is not winter hardy, you’ll be happy to know it can be grown in containers that can be brought indoors during winter and placed back outside when temperatures warm up in spring.
Growing Preferences
Indian Hawthorne are very easy to grow in moist but well-drained soils of average fertility in full sun to part shade. Morning sun is a must to dry dew from the leaves. As with so many other ornamental shrubs, constantly soggy or wet soils can cause root rot and other harmful plant diseases. When established Indian Hawthorne are exceptionally drought tolerant. That said, during prolonged periods of summer drought established plants will appreciate an occasional deep soaking. Does not require pruning to maintain its naturally dense form.

Our Rosalinda Hawthorne arrived with a significant amount of leaf spot and what appeared to be powdery mildew on most of the leaves. I sent an email and pictures describing this and received and immediate response stating “This isn’t powdery mildew. It used to have it, yes, but they were treated awhile ago and since the issue has been resolved. The white stuff you are seeing now is actually residue from a recent copper fungicide treatment to help keep the powdery mildew at bay,. You can tell because it looks like a water mark rather then a fungi. The spots you are seeing on the leaves, are from heat stress in transit. It is really common this time of year for plants to suffer some heat damage while traveling.”
Since planting our tree, it has thrived. I appreciate Wilson Brothers fast and thorough response to my concerns.——————————————–Thanks for the kind words and wonderful review! We are so glad you are pleased and we hope you enjoy it for years to come! 🙂 Beth Steele | WBG

We received our 3 Rosalinda Indian Hawthorne trees approximately 3 weeks ago. They arrived beautifully packaged and there was not a single brown leaf to be found. Here in Houston, we had rain forecast for the entire week, but we didn’t want to wait a whole week before planting them. So, after the first full day of rain, my husband and I just planted them while it was raining! We mulched the next day – still raining. At the end of the week we were worried that we had drowned our poor little trees, but they are very happy. They have new little golden leaves on them and seem to be very happy. We cannot wait until next Spring to witness it’s flowering. I love this nursery! The best I have ever used.———————————–We are so glad you are pleased and we hope you enjoy them for years to come! We removed a sick Pine and decided to replace it with a Hawthorne similar to one we have had for some time. We trained the one we have over years and did not want to wait that long for results so we ordered this one. It has been trained and packaged for delivery perfectly. I wish I had saved a photo of the container. Two days shipping in July and there was not a piece of soil out of place or a leaf bruised when we opened it. I’m including a photo of the new tree planted with our old tree in the background for reference.——————————————–We are so glad you are pleased and we hope you enjoy it for years to come!
