Description
This is the tree form version of the Sparkle & Shine Rose, a descendant of ‘Julia Child’ and ‘Sunflare’. Like its ancestors, ‘Sparkle & Shine’ is a floribunda Rose, but on steroids. From spring to fall this beauty lights up the garden with profuse clusters of fragrant, glistening yellow double flowers that look like a tea rose when opening and a double Dahlia bloom when fully open. With bigger and brighter yellow flowers, longer-lasting color, and dark green glossy foliage with improved disease resistance, Sparkle & Shine is an easy-care stunning accent tree in pots or garden beds.
Landscape & Garden Uses
The Sparkle & Shine Tree Rose is ideal for use as a specimen, or use two to frame an entryway. Excellent in pots or garden beds and home foundation plantings. A fine addition to fragrance gardens, yellow them gardens, rose gardens, cottage gardens and container gardens.
Suggested Spacing: Best as a specimen or use two to frame an entryway.
Growing Preferences
The Sparkle & Shine Tree Rose is easy to grow in average, moist but well-drained soils in full sun to part shade. As with all other roses, to avoid powdery mildew, morning sun is a must to dry dew from the leaves. Afternoon shade or filtered sun is fine. We suggest 6 hours of direct sun light for best flowering.
Maintenance is minimal with no pruning required, though the plant can benefit from it. An annual pruning in late winter, at which time branches can be cut back to about 18 inches in height, will result in a fuller bush throughout the growing season. After this hard pruning, your rose will quickly flush out and start blooming with the arrival of warmer spring temperatures. Deadheading spent flowers through the season is not necessary however will encourage more new buds and flowers.
