Description
A rare and hard to find new introduction, and our top seller among all the native azaleas we grow, meet Tallulah Sunrise…she’s sure to be a big hit with gardeners that love Native Azaleas. In spring, abundant clusters of red buds open to bright peachy orange flowers highlighted with gold tones – unlike any other we’ve seen! The flowers produce a delightful honeysuckle-like fragrance that fills the garden with sweet aroma. Very lustrous dark green leaves turn orange-bronze in fall. The handsome leaves are exceptionally mildew free.
Landscape & Garden Uses
Growing 6 to 8 feet in height and 5 to 6 feet wide, the Tallulah Sunrise Native Azalea is ideal for use as a specimen or grouping in woodland gardens and borders and shady flowering shrub borders. As she grows taller lower branches can be removed to form an attractive small focal point specimen tree in garden beds or pots, planters and other containers. A fine addition to Azalea and Rhododendron gardens, orange or golden theme gardens, fragrance gardens, shade and woodland gardens and cottage gardens.
Suggested Spacing: We do not suggested using this beauty as a hedge. Plant 8 feet or more apart for space between plants
Note: For our customers who live and garden north of USDA Plant Hardiness Zone 6a, where this native azalea variety is not winter hardy, you can enjoy it in containers that can be moved indoors during winter and placed back outside when temperatures warm up in spring.
Growing Preferences
Tallulah Sunrise Native Azalea is very easy to grow in a moist but well-drained humus rich soil and dappled shade or morning sun with afternoon shade. Native azaleas are very low-maintenance plants that require little if any pruning. When established, plant are quite drought tolerant, requiring supplemental water only during prolonged periods of dry summer weather.

This order is either the second or third order I made From Wilson Brothers. Initially I was very hesitant to order plants over the internet. In the previous order I had a issue with the order and Wilson Brothers helped me work through the issues until they were resolved.
Based on their effort I order 4 Magnolias and six azaleas. All of the plants arrived and good shape and the azaleas started to bloom within two weeks of planting. As a matter of fact, as shown in the picture below after 30 days of planting they growing faster and better than the existing azaleas planted 8 months earlier.
I would strong recommend Wilson Brothers for all of your planting requirements.———————————————————————-We are so glad you are pleased and we hope you enjoy it for years to come! Thanks for the awesome review! 🙂 Beth Steele | WBG

My first three plants from Wilson Bros. arrived in absolutely perfect condition. Due to unfavorable weather conditions across the country, my fourth plant, an azalea, arrived with all its leaves dead at the bottom of the box. So why five stars? The severe weather between the southeastern part of the country and the Pacific Northwest was beyond anyone’s control, and the gentleman who called me from Wilson Bros. did the best anyone could do to solve the problem. We agreed that it would be wise to wait a couple of weeks to mail a second plant. In the meantime, he gave me suggestions on how I might revive the first azalea, suggestions that thus far seem to be effective. Thus, I have found that Wilson Bros. is a fine company that usually provides healthy, hearty plants and that deals fairly with its customers when the occasional misfortune damages a plant.————————————————————–Hi Janice, Thanks so much for taking the time to provide your review of the Tallulah Sunrise Native Azalea. Hello Gentlemen:
Thank you for following up on my order and my experience. I am happy to my experience was pleasant and professional. In addition, my plant was packaged carefully and delivered safely and in good condition. As is sometimes the case, the plant seemed to have a bit of a shock after it was planted; however, it is still alive and appears to be coping OK. I don’t expect much activity in the way of blooming this season, but just want it to get established and be healthy so it can endure the Winter and be ready to flourish next season. I planted it in Leafgro and native soil, so it should be in good shape to establish itself. I look forward to it hopefully growing some this year, and seeing its beautiful blooms next Spring. I’ll follow-up then with a review online to provide an update on how it is doing.
Thank you again for the follow-up and great customer service!——————————WBG Reply: Hi Robert, Thanks so much for taking the time to provide your review of the Tallulah Sunrise Native Azalea. We are so glad you are pleased and we hope you enjoy it for years to come! Thanks for the kind words!

Packaged well upon receipt. Appears very healthy with buds on for spring. Most of leaves fell off after planting which is not unexpected. Will need to wait until spring to see how it looks. However was asked for a review now. ——– WBG Reply: Hi Anne – Thanks so much for taking the time to provide your review. Leaves falling off during the fall is usually normal with native azaleas. After native azaleas have gone into dormancy and lost their leaves they won’t be drinking as much water through the cool season. In the absence of rainfall just provide enough supplemental water to keep the soil moist (not constantly soggy) and plants should emerge from dormancy and leaf out fine in spring. If not, please let us know. And let us know if there’s ever anything else we can help you with. We’re at your service! – Brent | Wilson Bros Gardens
