Description
An exceptionally straight and erect with thick-walled canes, Pseudosasa Amabilis, commonly called ‘Tonkin Cane’ or ‘Tea Stick’ bamboo, is often used to make custom fly fishing rods by artisans and bamboo plant stakes or fencing that you might’ve used in you landscape and garden. The large leaves makes it a very attractive specimen grove that will have your backyard looking like a tropical paradise! A moderate grower up to 50 feet tall in warmer climates and maybe 30 to 40 feet in cooler climates, this bamboo forms a grove of 2.5 inch diameter canes. Tonkin Cane grows well in sun or part shade and is cold hardy to around 15°F.

How To Grow Bamboo Plants Indoors
Tonkin Bamboo is a running bamboo, which means it spreads, but it’s a slow spreader that eventually forms a small grove. Bamboo can be controlled in a small area (a normal city yard) simply by mowing or stepping on the young shoots. Keep in mind that running bamboo only puts up new shoots for a short time each year and, when they are “shooting,” the new plants are very fragile and easy to destroy. Root pruning or installing Bamboo Root Barrier are other methods to control spread.

I was extremely pleased when I was informed by Wilson Brothers that I had won the $50.00 discount. I will be 75 June 4th and their have not been many “Wins” in my lifetime. So I first ordered the Tonkin Bamboo. I was in shock when it arrived to my home here in Eloy AZ. The shipping box was 6 foot and housed my Tonkin Bamboo. It was so tall it had to be slightly bent to fit in the box. Soil was moist and the plant really amazed me as I was expecting something much smaller. After planting it I further traversed the Wilson Brothers web page and read how two brothers dreams became a reality. I had absolutely no qualms in ordering another Bamboo. This time the Madake Bamboo. Before I had time to blink twice it was sitting in my driveway. It too is now planted and both my bamboos are thriving. I LOVE this company. The brothers and staff will make my 75th birthday a memorable one as my bamboo grove grows making my desert landscape look like a mini tropical paradise! Thanks again, Hugs, Tobias, Eloy AZ—————————————————This is my most favorite review ever! We are so glad you are pleased and we hope you enjoy them for years to come!
